Project Background

 

Metro COG is working with the City of Hawley to update the city's zoning and subdivision ordinances.  Hawley recently updated their comprehensive plan, and wanted to take a closer look at what should be reflected within their ordinances to advance the goals and objectives that have been adopted as part of the comprehensive plan. 

The zoning ordinance is beign updated to address a variety of chapters including definitions, residential zones, commercial zones, industrial zones, parking, and planned unit develompent.  In addition, the city's subdivision ordinance is being updated to address sidewalks and trails, extraterritorial area, and submittal requirements.  Metro COG is also conducting topical research that may be integrated into the ordinance update including minimum livable areas, literature review such as State of Minnesota statutes and regulations, enforcement mechanisms, and building codes.
