The City of Dilworth is updating its comprehensive plan, a long-range plan to help guide future growth and development in the city. Provide your perspectives on what you value most about the community, the challenges faced, and the opportunities for improvement by completing a community input survey or providing comments directly on an interactive map of the city. Feedback collected from the survey and interactive map will inform the planning process and ensure the comprehensive plan reflects the needs and desires of residents. Whether you've lived in Dilworth for years or are new to the area, your insights are invaluable.

Project Background

The City of Dilworth is a vibrant community with a strong sense of local identity, offering residents a balance of peaceful living and convenient access to urban amenities in the Fargo-Moorhead area. With a population of over 4,800 residents as of 2023, Dilworth has seen steady growth over the years.

In March 2025, the City of Dilworth began an update to its 2018 comprehensive plan. This new planning effort, Imagine Dilworth, aims to create a vision that reflects the values, aspirations, and needs of the community while guiding future growth and development decisions. Imagine Dilworth will address the city's growth, transportation, land use, economic development, housing, infrastructure, and quality of life.

Project Objective

The City of Dilworth is at a crossroads, with new opportunities for growth and development on the horizon. By creating an updated comprehensive plan, the city can ensure that its growth is managed in a way that preserves its unique character while accommodating the needs of current and future members of the community. This plan will serve as a strategic framework for decision-making for the City of Dilworth, fostering a thriving and connected community for years to come.

The primary objective of Imagine Dilworth will be to guide the city's future development, ensuring that it remains a desirable place to live and work while meeting the evolving needs of the community. By gathering input from residents and working with city officials, local businesses, and other stakeholders, this plan will help to shape policies and forward-thinking strategies over the next 25 years. 

Imagine Dilworth will focus on several key areas including:

• Long-Term Growth: Creating a vision for the city's development over the coming years, with flexible strategies for growth.
• Integrated Planning: Coordinating land use, transportation, housing, and economic development efforts to ensure a cohesive approach to growth.
• Community Well-Being: Ensuring that growth is managed in a way that supports the quality of life, including accessible parks, schools, and community services.
